Chargers Not Quite Ready For The Big Time

The San Diego Chargers, no matter what talented rosters they put together, are yet again unable to get over the hump. 3 missed field goals by Nate Kaeding in a game, when he only missed 3 in the regular season, shows that he is not capable of being a playoff kicker. He will almost surely be released, and Norv Turner will be placed under a lot of media scrutiny this offseason. Philip Rivers did not look comfortable and it showed with his interceptions. Rex Ryan and the Jets were not intimidated about coming into a hostile environment, and rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez managed the Jets' basic offense to victory. While the Jets don't ask much of Sanchez, he is not intimidated by playing challenging road games. All the pressure next week is on the Colts, who could have eliminated the Jets in Week 16 but instead chose to put in Curtis Painter. Look for some interesting storylines to develop in the coming week. Should the Colts lose to the Jets, they will learn their lesson for benching their starters in Week 16.
